My name is Will Flewett - unusually - I'm an Uilleann Piper living in
Brighton, UK!
I first came under the spell of the pipes after hearing Paddy Maloney
of the Chieftains in the late 1970s but it was not until 1980 that I acquired
my first practice set and started lessons at the London Pipers Club in
Camden under the tutelage of Billy Browne. My main influences include
the playing of Seamus Ennis, Tommy Reck, Willie Clancy and Robbie Hannan.
7 years learning, 7 years practising and 7 years playing later with several
visits to the Willie Clancy Summer School in Milltown Malbay in Co. Clare,
Ireland, with teachers Tom Clarke and Tommy Keane, I am now an established
piper and traditional musician also playing mandolin and guitar. I am
a frequent performer at some of the sessions in Brighton . . .
